Comet fish come from East Asia. This fish became known about 1,000 years ago in Ancient China. Initially, these fish were kept as food. These fish are bred with aquaculture techniques.

How to Maintain and Care

Caring for this ornamental goldfish is not so difficult because it is a tough, agile fish, and a reliable swimmer. This fish has a high adaptability so it is not too affected by the surrounding environment.

However, there are things that need to be considered when raising comet fish, which is to always maintain water quality. The comet fish’s environment must be free of fungi, bacteria, chlorine, and heavy metals. Because these fish are susceptible to diseases associated with fungi, bacteria, and viruses.

Therefore, it is very important to maintain the quality of the water in the aquarium by installing filters and draining it regularly. The quantity of water is also important, for 1 comet fish requires at least 75 liters of water.

Comet Fish Feed

Comet fish are omnivores or eat everything. If kept in an aquarium or pond, they will usually be given special fish pellets. But other than that, these fish prefer natural foods such as small shrimp, ants, worms, small insects, mosquito larvae, flies, and others. For plants, comet fish like lettuce, broccoli, and algae.

Traits and Characteristics

Comet fish are active swimmers. This ability is obtained from the shape of the tail which is also beautiful. Seeing a comet fish with its tail fluttering can also be a stress reliever.

When given food, the movement of this fish can be very aggressive. Although good at adapting to the environment and not easily stressed, it is advisable to change the aquarium decorations periodically.
