Severum (Hero Severus) is one of the thin-bodied fish from the Cichlid family, to be precise, the American Cichlid. Severum fish come from Guyana, Rio Negro, Amazon River. These fish are slightly carnivorous but more inclined to omnivores. Its size can reach 15 cm.

The dorsal and pelvic fins of the female are longer and sharper than the male.
The optimal temperature for rearing these fish is around 27-30° C. While good water for growth has an optimal pH of around 6.5-7.0 and a hardness of around 3° dH.
The way of spawning is almost the same as Oskar. It’s just that these fish need more live food such as fish or shrimp when they are still prospective brooders. If there is not enough feed, the mother will get sick easily and the quality of the eggs will be poor (not hatching). The egg nests are made of flat stone, ceramic pieces, or large pieces of paralon. Both male and female parents will clean the nest before spawning.
After spawning, the eggs with the nest are taken to be hatched in an aquarium or small pond. Hatching will last for 2-3 days and the larvae will swim four days later. The size of the larva is large enough so that it can be directly fed water fleas or silk worms. Feed for enlargement in the form of silk worms and young fish.
Feed in the form of small shrimp is generally given when the size of the fish has reached 3-4 cm. Giving shrimp so that the red color appears quickly. The size goes on sale about 4 cm with a maintenance period of 3 months.
